When Julia was diagnosed with cancer at 21, she and her best friend Hanna felt completely alone. They couldn't find anyone else their age in the hospital or any forum online. They knew they couldn't be the only ones, so they started what they themselves had been missing.
Today, we are a strong community for those between 16 and 35 years old who are living with or close to cancer. We are independent, driven by our 4,000+ members, and are here to provide psychosocial support, rehabilitation, and financial assistance. So that no young adult has to struggle alone in a system where they are often too old for pediatric care but too young for adult care.
Ung Cancer exists for its members by providing psychosocial support and filling the gap that often arises between life in the hospital and life outside
We create meeting places and opportunities for community at a time when it is easy to feel like the loneliest person in the world. We provide financial support to those who, due to cancer, struggle to make ends meet. We support members in their rehabilitation and create paths forward. We raise awareness about young adults, those affected by cancer, and their loved ones to combat prejudice, reduce fear, and inspire change. We debate issues affecting our target group to bring about change in healthcare and society.
