After my cancer diagnosis, I moved back in with my parents to receive treatment at Sahlgrenska University Hospital in Gothenburg. That time, I got the right help quickly. When my neck started growing again in the autumn of 2021, just after I had moved to Lund to study at university, I had to fight all autumn to be taken seriously. What Lund University Hospital could not figure out over several months, Sahlgrenska investigated in just three days. I moved back in with my parents again and received my treatment in Gothenburg.
I want to talk about what it is like to experience a relapse just as you have started your dream education. I want to talk about what it is like to move between regions in that situation and how it feels to be denied proper care despite a previous history of cancer. I want to talk about how difficult it is to keep your life going while also juggling doctor's appointments and medical consultations. Finally, I want to talk about why I practically laughed when I received my relapse diagnosis.
